Lets Make Like a Rainbow

Loving this weather I was messing around in the sunshine with my camera while chilling the other day and took these pics. I am making like a rainbow I brought this tie dye tee from Urban Outfitters a while ago and with this cheery weather it seemed perfect teamed with rainbow tipped hair and yellow nails. I have also ordered some rainbow laces to go in my Litas.

Carefree

This weather makes me want to channel my inner hippie the sun makes me feel all carefree and at one with nature. So when this top arrived from online vintage store Ciuchbuda I knew it would be totally perfect for a laid back boho look. Ciuchbuda is an online vintage store and they now ship all over Europe thanks to Paypal be sure to check them out as they have real affordable vintage clothes nothing is really over a tenner and they have some amazingly cool unusual pieces. 

I love this top it is so perfect and has that real boho vibe. I teamed it with a bindi and my diy headdress after seeing the lovely Melissa from Princess and the Pea rocking one I decided my head needs one. 

Challenge

Next sent me a little something through the post this official team GB scarf here and with it came a challenge to style it now it said "in the most innovative way" I know turning a scarf into a top is not the most innovative thing ever but I liked the way it looked I was toying with the idea of a headband yawn even a bag which was quite good but I decided on a top. I actually had pink and blue tips in my hair but the pictures did not pick it up that well. I am really tempted with this Union Jack maxi dress here seeing as the UK is the place to be this summer.

Crochet Swimsuits

I totally fell in love with the crochet swimsuit on Nasty Gals website here and after some searching on good old ebay I found one that was half the price and it is pretty much identical here. I am also pleased as obviously ordering things online can be a bit hit and miss size wise but it is perfect and I normally have difficulties finding swimsuits that fit as I have quite a short body. I love it teamed with the cut offs too now I just need to get myself to a beautiful beach somewhere tropical.

I love this hooded shirt from INCA it is such a cool way to wear a hoodie I thought I would try it open as a jacket it works perfectly. I felt a bit Kylie in the video Cant Get You Out Of My Head when I was taking these pictures even typing this post I was humming La La La Lalalalalala La La La in my head lol.

Working in Retail

I have had a few emails sent to me about how to get a job in retail. It is pretty easy really and you can make a career out of it. I would say get yourself a Saturday or weekend job first retail seems like fun but I can assure you it can be long and boring and you are standing on your feet 9 hours a day at least this way you can decide if it is for you or not. If you are someone who does not want to work weekends and loves having loads of time off during holiday seasons then don't bother these are key selling times in retail and even a Manager does not get these times off.

If you love fashion, meeting new people and have a chatty personality than retail will be an excellent choice for you as these are fantastic qualities to have. The pay for retail is not great and will usually be just above minimum wage if you are lucky but there are perks like uniform allowance, staff discount and target related pay plus you get to see things before they hit the shopfloor and can pick up some bargains as you know what is going into sale first because of this I would say pick a brand that you genuinely love otherwise these perks wont apply. I chose to work in a department store and I would highly recommend it you work with lots of different brands and lots of fabulous people too it suits me and I have been at House of Fraser for ten years now.

The are lots of opportunities to work up the ladder too I am happy at store Management level but you can move on into Head Office a lot of companies employ internally so you get to hear about these positions first. Retail is also great to have on your CV if you do want to work in the Head Office side of retail like Visual Merchandiser, Buyer or Merchandiser. My Weekend girl is studying at London College of Retail and she has gained a wealth of knowledge by working on the shopfloor.

The sun decided to make an appearance and as much as I bleat on that I love the cold weather and I am more of a winter person than summer I have really enjoyed today but I do find this time of year so challenging getting dressed, the mornings are freaking freezing so I need my faux fur by the time lunchtime comes it is warmish and you look a right idiot strolling around in fur. I decided to wear a piece I have brought for my Summer wardrobe this gorgeous cropped top teamed with a thick blanket cardi it was perfect as the cardi is heavy enough to keep me warm and still has a summer vibe about it. Still loving my AA disco pants best things ever. I ordered this here from ASOS I have wanted it for ages but it was sold out at the store where I live so I was super happy when it saw it on ASOS

When Harriet from INCA contacted me I was more than happy to review her online shop I picked this sheer hooded shirt it is perfect for the sports luxe look. Since I brought a hoodie a few weeks back I have become a bit obsessed with anything hooded so when I saw this I knew it would be perfect. I teamed it with my leather running shorts and milkmaid braids. I am going to hunt down a neon crop top I think it will look awesome teamed under it.

My mum treated me to this Matthew Williamson jacket years ago when he opened his first store in Bruton Street the store was amazing and the fitting rooms were like standing in a rain forest. It is such a statement piece and will never date. I finally got to wear the sequin crop top that I shared with you guys in this post here the colours all work together perfectly.

Seeing as my mum brought me the jacket and it is Mothers Day today it seemed like the perfect thing to wear. Happy Mothers day mum and thank you for being so amazing xoxo

Here is the string dress thing that I told you about I cut the elasticated bottom off it so it was not so clingy if you are interested you can get one here they are really hard to find in this length. I love how it looks layered under things.

How awesome are these boots Becci my gorgeous Saturday girl (ha ha what a way to describe her not the gorgeous bit but the Saturday bit) came in at the weekend rocking a pair and when she told me they were wait for it £19.99 from New Look I was straight there to get myself a pair they do them in black and if my size had still been in stock I would of grab them too. 

Starry Eyed

I scored this military shirt from a car boot sale a few years back taking a dot of inspiration from Topshops Unique AW12 collection I teamed it with a leather baseball cap still unsure if I like it on me or not but it kinda works with this outfit.

I am loving mesh tops at the mo I got this black one years ago from New Look. I managed to find a white string dress on ebay that I have cut the bottom off for an Isabel Marant inspired layered look. I wish I could just walk into the Isabel Marant shop and buy all of her collection instead of sourcing alternatives oh maybe one day (never). I think Isabel Marant sums my style up she never fails me season after season I could quite happily live in all her creations have you seen her boots from AW12 here omg they are so fierce xoxo

We are not alone

I am a bit of a geek when it comes to the sky at night anyone else in the UK totally obsessing over seeing Jupiter,Venus and Mars in the sky. I took these pics of Jupiter and Venus over my house the other night. If you look to the South West at dusk you can see them Mars is in the East and it is so easy to see as it is shining red. What has got me stupidly excited is that they can be seen with the naked eye and so easily too for me this is what makes our world so freaking amazing xoxo

Mixed Up

I spoke about my acid wash denim jacket in my last post so I thought I would drag it out. I diyed this myself I basically put it in a bucket of bleach ironed on some studs to create the triangle on the back and I was finished pretty simple really. I am dying to wear some of the pieces I have brought for summer but they some how do not look the same with black tights and denim cut offs I have brought a kimono from ASOS here and an awesome tie dyed tee from Urban Outfitters renewal collection I have tried to style them for a transitional vibe but somehow it just does not seem to work I think these pieces are true carefree summer pieces. I have also brought a crochet swimsuit from ebay after seeing this one here on Nasty Gals website it has not arrived yet I just hope it fits.

Some of you guys were asking about the nail polish I had on in my last post it is Nina Pro Ultra in Solar Flare here  I am really impressed by the quality seeing as it was so cheap it is actually a lot more neon then the photos show xoxo

Transition

As soon as I saw this Stefanel jumper I knew I had to have it the colours, style and knit are just perfect and it is a great transitional piece I am so looking forward to wearing it bare legged with my acid wash denim jacket from this post here. I have also found a seller on ebay here selling the most amazing rings for a fiver well worth checking them out.

 I am so happy with how my DIY from this post here turned out I was a little worried as this is my fav leather jacket I have had it years and would of been gutted if I had ruined it but it turned out fine.

I can see a Rainbow

I am wearing some of my recent purchases I could not resist this rainbow coloured fringe scarf from Urban Outfitters here you know when you see something walk away from it and then cant stop thinking about well that was how I felt about this scarf. I also scored myself a pair of American Apparel disco pants from ebay after a tip off from my Visual Merchandiser at work thanks Sophie. I have wanted a pair for ages and I am pleased that I finally got a pair they are amazing and fit like a dream the AA sizing is spot on too I hate ordering trousers online coz it is so hit and miss with the sizing I want the red ones next and they are a great replacement for pleather trousers for Spring. 

The mere Bolo Tie

Normally associated with Country and Western style clothing  I have noticed a micro trend for the Bolo Tie. First seen in the Kooples AW11 campaign and then I saw the very stylish Madeline from Jean Greige wearing one here. Topshop has this one here and Topman has this one here as lovely as they are I wanted to find one with a bit more detail so I went onto ebay and found two sellers here and here selling a good selection for reasonable prices.
